Brooches · Edwardian
Ludovica, 1902
€3,200
Knife-edge galleries across the whole face of a small crescent brooch.
The story
A small Edwardian thing, and a serious one. The old-cut diamonds is catching the light along one edge and nowhere else, the knife-edge galleries unmistakable. The work is so even you would swear a machine did it, though none then could.
It reached us out of a Bruges family, unworn for a lifetime and none the worse for it. Pieces like this do not come apart; they were built to be handed on.
