An Art Deco plaque brooch, the calibré-cut sapphires cooler in daylight than you expect, never showy. The work is so even you would swear a machine did it, though none then could. It came to us from an English country house, still in the fitted box it was put away in. Pieces like this do not come apart; they were built to be handed on.
